1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Krystalize, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't install the app — or uninstall it if you already have. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Krystalize LLC ("we," "us," or "Krystalize").
2. License
Subject to these Terms, Krystalize grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Krystalize software on devices you own or control, for any lawful purpose — personal or commercial.
You may not:
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the software as a standalone product
- Reverse-engineer parts of the software that are not already open source, except where the law says you can
- Use the software to break the law, infringe someone else's rights, or operate critical systems where failure could cause serious harm
- Remove or obscure copyright, trademark, or attribution notices
3. Your Responsibilities
Because Krystalize runs on your device, you are responsible for what happens on that device. That includes:
-
Your data. Everything you put into Krystalize —
contacts, tasks, crystals, notes, files, credentials — lives in a
local SQLite database at
~/Library/Application Support/Krystalize/. Back it up the same way you back up anything else important. Krystalize does not back up your content. If your disk dies and you had no backup, we can't recover it. - Your credentials. You are responsible for the API keys, OAuth tokens, and passwords you store in Krystalize's Credential Locker and for the account passphrase that protects them. If you lose the passphrase, we cannot decrypt the vault for you.
- Your devices. You're responsible for keeping the machine Krystalize runs on physically and digitally secure — FileVault, OS updates, lock screen, the works.
- Your usage of third-party services. When you connect a Google, Microsoft, Apple, or other account, you're the one making API calls through Krystalize. Stay within those providers' rate limits and acceptable-use rules.
4. Third-Party Services
Krystalize can connect to third-party services — Google, Microsoft, Apple, Anthropic, OpenAI, Matrix homeservers, IMAP/CalDAV providers, and others you configure. When you connect one of these services:
- Your relationship with that provider is governed by that provider's own terms of service and privacy policy, not by Krystalize.
- Krystalize authenticates on your device and exchanges data directly between your device and that provider. We don't relay, proxy, or mirror that data.
- Providers may change their APIs, rates, scopes, or availability at any time. Krystalize is not liable for third-party outages, breaking changes, or data returned by those services.
- You're responsible for maintaining the authorizations you grant and for revoking them (via the provider's account settings) when you no longer want Krystalize to have access.
5. AI Models
Local models. We ship our software with a local LLM that has been trained to understand how to help you use Krystalize. Local inference runs entirely on your machine, with no network call. You do not need an account anywhere to use the local model. The local model is included with the Krystalize software.
Cloud (frontier) models — bring your own accounts. Krystalize can connect to cloud frontier models like Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), and OpenRouter for heavier work that the local model can't handle efficiently or at all. Krystalize does not resell, provide, or proxy cloud frontier AI model access. To use a frontier model, you bring your own account with that provider — your subscription, your API key, or your OAuth login, as appropriate to that provider. You pay each provider directly; you pay Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, etc., and not Krystalize, for cloud AI usage. Your relationship with each frontier provider is governed by that provider's own terms of service and acceptable use policy.
Routing. When you initiate work that calls a cloud model, Krystalize authenticates on your device using your credentials and exchanges data directly between your device and the chosen provider. Krystalize does not relay, proxy, mirror, pool, or otherwise intermediate your AI requests through Krystalize-controlled infrastructure or Krystalize-controlled credentials. We never charge you for tokens, requests, or model usage — those are billed to you by the provider whose account you connected.
- AI outputs are not guaranteed to be accurate. Models — local or cloud — can hallucinate, misread context, and produce confident-sounding wrong answers.
- You are responsible for verifying important outputs before acting on them — especially for decisions that affect your work, finances, health, legal standing, or relationships with other people.
- Krystalize is not liable for AI-generated content. That includes anything a model drafts, suggests, summarizes, categorizes, or executes on your behalf through the agent system.
- When Krystalize takes actions via an agent (sending email, creating events, calling APIs), you are ultimately responsible for those actions. Review the agent's configuration and output before letting it run autonomously on anything that matters.
6. Intellectual Property
The software and the brand are ours. Krystalize, the Krystalize name, logo, wordmark, and visual identity, and the Krystalize software (including source code, binaries, documentation, and assets) are owned by Krystalize LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We reserve all rights not expressly granted in these Terms.
Your content is yours. Anything you create, import, or store in Krystalize — your contacts, notes, tasks, crystals, configurations, prompts, files — remains yours. These Terms do not grant us any ownership of your content, and because your content stays on your device, we don't receive a copy of it.
Software composition. The Krystalize core product is proprietary to Krystalize LLC. Krystalize includes open-source software components used under their respective permissive licenses (such as MIT, BSD, and Apache 2.0); attribution and license notices for those components are included with the distribution. Copyleft-licensed components are not included in the default Krystalize distribution. Third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter, and similar) are accessed only through vendor-approved API or authentication paths, in accordance with each vendor's own terms of service. No proprietary third-party vendor CLI or runtime is redistributed as part of Krystalize without that vendor's express permission.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
Krystalize is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We don't guarantee that:
- The software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or bug-free
- Third-party integrations will remain available or behave correctly
- AI models will produce accurate, complete, or useful output
- The software will meet your specific requirements or expectations
You use Krystalize at your own risk. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Krystalize LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or related to your use of Krystalize, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of or related to Krystalize is limited to the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us for Krystalize in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions don't allow limitations on certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Krystalize LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your misuse of Krystalize
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any law or third-party right (including the terms of any third-party service you connect)
- Content or actions produced through your use of the software, including AI-generated output you act on or distribute
10. Termination
You can stop using Krystalize at any time by quitting
and uninstalling the app. To remove all local data, also delete
~/Library/Application Support/Krystalize/.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Krystalize (including updates, cloud-hosted endpoints, and paid features, where applicable) if you materially breach these Terms — for example, by abusing the software, attempting to harm other users or our infrastructure, or using Krystalize to break the law. Where reasonable, we'll give you notice and a chance to fix the issue first.
Sections that should survive termination by their nature (Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law) will survive.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You and Krystalize agree that any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of Krystalize will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and both parties consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Krystalize LLC is a Wyoming limited liability company; choice of Wyoming as the state of organization is a matter of entity domicile and does not affect the governing-law and forum selection specified in this section.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll notify active users in-app before the change takes effect, so you can review them and decide whether to keep using Krystalize. Continuing to use the software after a material change becomes effective means you accept the updated Terms.
